Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and KITAB
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is a major business initiative of KITAB, a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage and the Frankfurt Book Fair. KITAB’s aim is to develop the book and publishing industry and promote reading in Abu Dhabi and the neighbouring Arab Emirates. KITAB will focus on making the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair truly international and developing a long-term networking opportunity between the Arabic and international publishing communities.
Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage
The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is the government institution in charge of caring for, conserving and promoting the heritage and culture of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Mission of the ADACH is multifaceted and generously funded. A fundamental goal of the ADACH is to activate, enhance and support the publishing and distribution markets in the Arab world in order to establish unique opportunities for enriching thought as well as strengthening intellectual interaction and communication amongst cultures. Frankfurt Book Fair
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the biggest book and media fair in the world and the most important international trade centre for rights and licences. At the latest edition of the fair, 7,272 exhibitors from 113 countries presented their products on a total area of 172,000 square metres. The tradition of this fair goes back to the Middle Ages when this fair was already held in Frankfurt.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is particularly concerned to support networking within the industry and to promote international exchange, also through the different German Book Offices abroad. In cooperation with various partners worldwide, the Frankfurt Book Fair organises and finances numerous activities and programmes for the industry. For more information click here.
