THE MANY VOICES OF CULTURE
… as reflected in the profile of our guests, and in the new concept of our venues

We are thrilled to welcome Amir and Khalil, the mysterious pair behind the acclaimed graphic novel Zahra’s Paradise. They’ll be joining us all the way from San Francisco to tell us about the power of illustrations in conveying strong messages – in this case, a mother’s quest for her son gone missing during the 2009 protests in Tehran. Check out www.zahrasparadise.com to follow this story in a serialized form, and in many languages (including Arabic!).

Another one of our esteemed guests is Sahar ElMougy who started writing in 1994 and has published two collections of short stories and two award-winning novels. When she is not writing, Sahar works as a Gender Studies & Creative Writing instructor, translator, columnist in ‘Elmasry Elyoum’ and lecturer on American and British poetry at Cairo University. She also hosts a radio programme about writing – catch her every Tuesday at midnight on the English Local Service of Radio Cairo! www.saharelmougy.com

Watch this space for our author line-up for the 2012 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair!
